My Tough but Amazing Everest Three High Pass Trek
My Tough but Amazing Everest Three High Pass Trek
Blog Article
The Everest Three High Pass Trek is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but also the most rewarding. This trek takes you through three high mountain passes—Kongma La (5,535m), Cho La (5,420m), and Renjo La (5,360m). I had never walked this high before. It was my first time, and I was both scared and excited.
This trek is not just about reaching Everest Base Camp. It’s about going in a full circle through the Everest region. The views were huge. Big mountains, glaciers, clear blue lakes, and quiet paths made each day feel special.
The trek usually takes 16 to 20 days. I took 19 days, with some rest in between. I started from Lukla and followed the regular Everest trail first. The climb to the first pass, Kongma La, was hard. The air was thin, and the path was rocky. I had to stop often. But when I reached the top, I felt like I was on top of the world. It was cold and windy, but the views were wide and clear.
Each pass felt different. Cho La had snow and ice. I had to be careful not to slip. Renjo La was my favorite. From the top, I could see Everest, Lhotse, and many more peaks. The sunrise from there was the best part of the whole trip.
I stayed in small tea houses. The rooms were simple, but I was always warm. The food was filling—dal bhat, noodles, and soup every day. I drank lots of tea to stay warm. People in the villages were kind and always ready to help.
Altitude was the biggest challenge. I drank water all the time and walked slow. I also took rest days in Namche and Dingboche. This helped my body adjust. A few trekkers got sick from the height, but I was lucky.
The cost was okay. Permits were around $50. I spent $30 a day on food and stay. I also hired a guide, which was the best choice I made. He knew the trails well and helped me when I was tired.
The best times to go are from March to May and September to November. The weather is mostly clear and not too cold during these months. I went in October, and it was perfect. Clear skies, sunny days, and not too much snow.
Doing the Everest Three High Pass Trek changed me. It tested my body and mind. I felt proud at the end. It was not easy, but it was worth it. If you want something more than just Everest Base Camp, this trek is for you. It’s hard but real. And you will never forget the feeling of walking above the clouds.
